"Tropes of Edo Memory in Prewar / Interwar / Early Postwar Japan"

I'm still not that famous, but I'm thinking about putting together / editing a book called "Tropes of Edo Memory in Interwar Japan"... with maybe 10 chapters.... each about a different writer [or intellectual / aesthetic movement] from the 1920s/1930s who engages with the theme of Edo period / culture.... My chapter is already written [Ishikawawa Jun's trope of Edo as counterdiscourse to mimetic realism's hegemony in modern period]... I'll write the introduction once all the contributions are decided... Somebody will have to write a chapter on Nagai Kafu's trope of Edo memory ["Edo geijutsuron,"etc].... Another on Kuki Shuuzo's Edo [Iki no kouzou, etc; maybe I can track down Mr Pxxxx].... Maybe a chapter on [negative] representations of Edo period in proletarian literature [perhaps Cxxris-sensei can help out with this].... Maybe one on Edo tropes in Tanizaki [Shisei, Tade kuu mushi, etc; perhaps C-sensei can help with this].... The book will be dedicated of course to Carol Gluck, whose seminal essay "The Invention of Edo" [along with my extension of her formula] will form the theoretical basis for the book..... The focus of course won't be the Edo period / culture per se, but rather the various representations of Edo in art / intellectual discourse from 1920 [1910?]-1940 and what they mean.... Let me know if interested... My good friend D Bxxx has already expressed interest in the project.... We can use this photo for the cover.....

..... I'll probably have to go on sabbatical to do this..... After a year of tenured-position teaching, I think it's high time for a sabbatical....
