Japan
Studies Texts: The List
(Last Update: 9/17/2017)
The
following is a non-comprehensive, ever-expanding list of Japanese (and some
Chinese) works for which I have made PDFs (of the original and English
translation) and study guides for class use. The works are organized by period:
classical, medieval, early modern, modern, and contemporary.
Students
should select from the list fifteen works that they would like to read during
the semester. If you wish to read a work that is not on the list, please send
me the title and author name, and I will try to locate it and make PDFs/study
guides.
*Note
1: My selections of works and their English translations are not an endorsement;
availability and chance played a role in my selections.
*Note
2: The original Japanese title is given first, followed by the title of the
English translation. I plan to add more detailed bibliographical information at
some point.
